Mount Kenya Trek for two days

Day 1: Naro Moru Gate (2,450m) to Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m)

  • Morning:
    • Arrival at Naro Moru Gate (2,450m): Start early and complete registration with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
    • Transfer to Met Station (3,050m): Drive (about 7km).
  • Afternoon:
    • Begin your hike to Mackinder’s Camp (10km). Pass through the vertical bog, a challenging section characterized by muddy and uneven terrain.
    • Enjoy stunning views of the Teleki Valley and Mount Kenya peaks as you ascend.
  • Evening:
    • Arrive at Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m) after 6-8 hours of hiking from Met Station.
    • Rest, acclimatize, have dinner, and sleep early in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 2: Mackinder’s Camp – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Met Station

  • Early Morning (2:00 AM – 3:00 AM):
    • Start summit attempt under the starry sky. The hike to Point Lenana takes 3-4 hours.
    • Reach Point Lenana (4,985m) by sunrise to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and landscapes.
  • Morning:
    • Descend back to Mackinder’s Camp for breakfast and rest.
    • Continue descending to Met Station
  • Afternoon:
    • Arrive at Met Station and transfer back to your departure point.

THE MOUNTAIN MENU
All our food are fresh, and the meals are tasty, well-prepared, and served by our staff. Three-course meals with vegetables, fruit, salads, desserts, soups, popcorn, biscuits, and a complete range of beverages. We want you to enjoy your holiday on Mount Kenya, which means good food! Our cooks are all well experienced in Western tastes so expect as an example a soup starter with bread, tomato, and avocado side salad followed by chicken casserole with boiled potatoes and julienne carrots with a fresh fruit medley to finish with, and coffee and chocolate for supper.
